CRM & Behaviour Change

Your CRM Is Not Your Clienteling Strategy

Technology can store a relationship. It cannot build one. Clienteling succeeds when systems, habits and leadership work together.

Many luxury brands invest heavily in clienteling apps and CRM platforms, then wonder why adoption is patchy and client experiences remain inconsistent. The technology is rarely the problem. The behaviour around it is.

Tulip’s Clienteling Benchmark research tracks how retailers use clienteling tools, and its findings reinforce a familiar point: value depends on how consistently advisors use the tools, not simply on whether they have them.

A strategy starts with the client. Which clients deserve proactive outreach, what a great relationship looks like at each stage, and what every advisor should know before a conversation. The system should make those decisions easier, not replace them.

A CRM records what happened. Clienteling decides what should happen next.

Then build the habits. Clear expectations for notes and follow-up, time in the working week to do it, and managers who coach to the behaviour rather than just the sales number.

Leadership makes it stick. When store managers review client books with their teams, celebrate great relationships and model the behaviour themselves, adoption follows.

Haus of Amber works with brands to diagnose where clienteling breaks down and to train advisors and leaders in the habits that bring the technology to life.
